The endocrine glands include the pituitary, thyroid, pancreas, adrenals, ovaries and testes, and most endocrine conditions are long-term or chronic.

Diabetes occurs when the hormone insulin, produced by the pancreas, is either deficient or absent, causing an elevation in blood sugar levels.
